Fear, of course, of the unkown.

One of the biggest “unknowns” in this industry is how much money is actually spent growing your business. There are advertising costs, and that is, for the most part, an expected expense. However, most people serverely underestimate the cost of continuing education.

No matter what kind of business you have, online or off, if you aren’t keeping up with the trends, and continually learning more and growing consistently, your business will stagnate and you will not flourish.

One of the things I choose to invest money into is attending live events. Ironically, I was at the Stratosphere Hotel in Las Vegas recently, and my teammate and mentor Mark Hoverson spoke specifcally on this topic, and I thought It was important to share. After all, he makes big bucks in this industry, and wouldn’t he be an expert on this subject?

Enjoy the clip, and leave me your feedback below. Looking forward to hearing from you!

When I first became a network marketer, I was very much focused on “building my downline”. Years ago, before this wonderful era of complete marketing disclosure, building a downine was an impossible feat. At least for me.

But I perservered until I met the person who would ultimately completely change the way I looked at online marketing. And the earliest lessons I learned was not to put all my eggs in one basket. That the beauty of online marketing is that you don’t have to sell just one product. I look at it like I own a store that speciallizes in marketing technology and information. And I am here to offer whatever it is that you need for your business, or if you don’t yet have a business to offer, I can help you there too.

I became an affiliate early on for almost every product I bought, and I promote my affiliate links in different places around the internet. Somtimes I forget that I am an affiliate for some things, and when I remember, I will draft up a quick email to my list and include it at the end or something.

Don’t be afraid to offer an affiliate product to a friend or aquaintance if they specifically ask you for information. If you have used a product or system and had good results, you should look at it as a favor to offer up what you know about that product.

You can also offer things occasionally without having been asked, presented as an idea that may not have been thought of yet. Again, if you know it’s valuable, it is the right thing to share the information.

Many times people are caught in a trap thinking it is rude to “Sell” to friends or your list…that you should only offer free value. It may seem uncomfortable for some to actually promote a product out right because they have been taught that “Selling is bad”. “Sharing valuable information”, however, is completely acceptable, and, in fact, expected from a true leader. So start thinking about all those little affiliate checks you could be making each week. even if it’s just enough to cover some advertising costs, it will put you ahead in the long run. Plus, it’s always fun to open up your email and see that you have money waiting!

As I mentioned Traffic Geyser in the video, I am including a link here for you to check out the site to see for yourself what an incredible service they offer. Get More Leads, Traffic and Buzz with Traffic Geyser!

You May “Just Be A Sponsor” if:

* You know the exact number of people in your organization, but cannot name many people. Worse yet, you honestly can’t call any one of them a friend.

* You come back from vacation and your inbox is flooded with emails, and voicemail is full of messages from your downline asking for help, and they have no idea that you were away.

* When a downline member does get in touch with you, and asks for help, you refer them to someone else to talk to, or give them a link to the company’s corporate training just to appease them.

However, you are most definitely a “Valued Mentor” if:

* You not only know the names of many of your teammates, but know stories about their families as well.

* You come back from vacation with your inbox filled with good wishes and inquiries to how your trip was. Or also likely is that the trip you just took included members of your team who went also.

* You are not only available to give time to your teammates to brainstorm and troubleshoot, but you are also pro-active in your coaching and you’re continually sending emails offering tips and helpful information about how to be better at what they do.

There are countless examples I could give, but the bottom line is anyone with an advertising budget and some telephone skills can sponsor many people into their business, and be financially successful, but a mentor who works to lift up their team and shine the spotlight on them will enjoy a far more rewarding and enriching experience as a leader in this industry.

You are going to work from home. You are excited. You can see the future and it’s you, on the beach, with a laptop, cheerily answering your cell phone and doing business with a MaiTai in one hand. Ahhh…. What a life it’s going to be.

Now you are two weeks into your new lifestyle, and you sit in your home at the kitchen table, kids crawling on you and the dishes from dinner have been pushed to one side. You go upstairs to get the kids ready for bed. “Tomorrow I will make that video” you think to yourself.

Tomorrow is here, the sun is shining, and the kids are at school. “Ahhh…today I am going to get so much done” you smile as you sit down to produce some content, or call some leads. Wait….I really should throw in that load of laundry. Now it’s 30 minutes later and you finally settle in. After about an hour, you feel like you need to stretch, so you walk outside. Hey, there’s your neighbor you’ve been meaning to track down for her awesome chili recipe. Over at her house, you look at your watch and say “Wow, I’d better get going before the kids get home”. So you go home, sit down in front of your computer, and….finally! You begin writing that article.

It’s going so well, and you feell so great about your life and how this is all going to work out just great, when……the door flies open and the kids are once again all over you telling you about their day. So you stop what you are doing and think “I can finish this later after they go to bed”……What is happening here? Watch while I explain.

However, I’ve had questions from teammates asking why their list is so unresponsive. There are, of course, several possible reasons for this. Maybe you are not sending enough communication. Maybe the videos and blog posts are not resonating with the people you are connecting with. What I have found, though, is that no matter how good or poor your response may seem, if you are not doing this one particular thing, you are leaving money on the table, no doubt about it.
